Target Background

Function
Platelet-derived growth factor subunit A (PDGFA) is a crucial growth factor involved in regulating embryonic development, cell proliferation, migration, survival, and chemotaxis. It acts as a potent mitogen for cells of mesenchymal origin. PDGFA is essential for normal lung alveolar septum formation during embryogenesis, proper development of the gastrointestinal tract, and normal Leydig cell development and spermatogenesis. It also plays a significant role in wound healing and normal oligodendrocyte development and myelination in the spinal cord and cerebellum. Its signaling is modulated through the formation of heterodimers with PDGFB.
